Fall Greens Recovery and Fertility Program

After a hot and dry growing season, many greens need a balanced fertility program to help them recover from summer weather stress and fall aerification practices.

The Andersons line of Contec DG® fertilizers and soil amendments have the technology and nutrition necessary to replenish essential plant nutrients expended over the growing season. Various phosphorus and potassium options are available, depending on other nutrient needs such as calcium or magnesium. Many of these fertilizers also contain value-adding humic acid components to help stimulate soil microbial populations and increase efficiency of applied nutrients.

This three-part program is designed for use in late summer and early fall to provide greens with the proper phosphorus and potassium fertility to facilitate stress recovery and stimulate growth after an aeration event. Timing of the applications is best determined through the TNT ® (Turf Nutrition Tool), in conjunction with any planned cultural events.

APPLICATION 1

This first application is all about helping to improve your soil. Black Gypsum DG acts as a flushing agent for soils with high salt levels due to summer drought conditions or effluent water use that also delivers calcium and sulfur.

APPLICATION 2

This step is important to replenish potassium that may have leached due to the Black Gypsum DG application or from heavy irrigation needed throughout the summer.

APPLICATION 3

Here, you’re helping stressed turf recover from summer weather and fall aeration activities. Both options contain humic acid to help improve soil health.
